iPhone camera settings worth changing
Resolution, formats, Photographic Styles and the grid: small changes for noticeably better photos.
The iPhone camera works well out of the box, but a few settings make a noticeable difference, especially on Pro models.
- Turn on the grid (Settings → Camera → Grid). Straight horizons and better composition, instantly.
- Use 24MP or 48MP for landscapes. The default 24MP is a good balance. Switch to 48MP when you plan to crop.
- Try ProRAW for difficult light. Raw files keep more detail in highlights and shadows, at the cost of storage.
- Set up Photographic Styles. Pick a tone and warmth you like once, instead of editing every photo.
- Preserve settings. Under Preserve Settings, keep the last mode and exposure so the camera opens the way you left it.
- Lens correction. Keep it on for the ultra wide to avoid stretched faces at the edges.
Clean the lenses. A fingerprint on the main camera causes more hazy, flared photos than any setting.
